Dear Parents,
Hello and welcome to, you and your child, 2nd grade! My name is Ye Shen, and I am very excited to be your child’s teacher this year! I am proud to be your child’s teacher and am committed to doing everything within my power to make this year successful for all of us. There is great excitement building as the new year begins. I graduated from University of Maryland, College Park with a Master of Education degree this year. I have been working with young children during school years at UMD. I love to work with kids, and that's why I am here for the very first exciting year. I am interested in DIY and blogging, as a way to express my opinions and a method to keep in touch with you. I also love to travel and take pictures, which allows me to experience other different languages and cultures. 2nd grade will be a challenging one for your child as compared to last year, however, I will try to make the classes more interesting as well as easier, so that each child understands as well as enjoys them. This year, we have Chinese literacy, math, science and social studies that will be taught in 100% Chinese. I will use this blog to communicate with you about classroom news, weekly homework, useful resources, field trip information, and so on. Therefore, I highly encourage you to keep an eye on this blog to see some updates. I need your help. I have high expectations for this school year. I will provide Youtube videos for you to help your child practice language at home. We will have monthly presentation topics available each month, which requires your child to prepare some pictures and other materials. Your child will have weekly homework which will be sent home on Mondays and shall be brought back by Fridays. Your help and support will not only make your child more successful in school this year but will instill good study habits that will last a lifetime. Finally, I believe that parent-teacher communication will help your child achieve academic goals in school. Please feel free to email me at [email protected]. I look forward to working with you and your child in this journey. Sincerely, Ye Shen |
